Esther Lin, MMA Fighting

Oh. My. Goodness.

I’m sure that was the exact thoughts of everyone who watched Amanda Nunes absolutely destroy Cris Cyborg. It took her less than one minute to knock off the Featherweight champion.

51 seconds to be exact.

It was a jaw dropping performance for Nunes who has officially cemented her place as the best female fighter of all time. It took her a combined 99 seconds to dispatch of both Cris Cyborg and Ronda Rousey. She is now the only woman to ever hold two titles stimulations.

She has officially reached G.O.A.T status with that kind of performance. Nunes is undoubtedly enjoying her victory at the moment. For us however we must take a peek at what the future now holds for the double champ Amanda Nunes.

Holly Holm

Holm’s burst onto the scene in 2015 with her stunning upset win over Ronda Rousey. The head kick she landed in the second round of that contest that knocked Ronda out has now become one of the most iconic pictures in UFC history.

Since her massive win however she has had a bit of an up and down road. She followed up her massive win over Ronda with three straight losses. Sure the competition was tough but they were losses nonetheless.

She bounced back with a win over Bethe Correia but she suffered a defeat at the hands of Cyborg in convincing fashion. In the her last outing she managed to defeat Megan Anderson. That win should not result in a title shot but Holm’s should get consideration.

Holm’s comes to fight in every contest and has put on terrific performances. Holm’s would be an underdog in the contest but she seems to perform better when she is counted out.

Cris Cyborg

What happened tonight was absolutely stunning. Cyborg was completely outclassed.

The best way to put it is she was Cyborg’d tonight. For as bad as she looked tonight, Cyborg deserves another chance to redeem herself. She was not only a long time champion but she mowed through the competition.

Tonight was simply not her night. A fighter of her stature deserves another shot.

It’s the sequel we all want and need to see.
