Dillon Danis, cornerman to one Conor McGregor, apparently doesn’t find himself culpable for the melee concluding UFC 229 because the jiu-jitsu coach skipped out on a meeting with the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) on Wednesday, Nov, 14.

Two corners of Khabib Nurmagomedov’s team, Zubaira Tukhugov and Abubakar Nurmagomedov, didn’t show up either. All were originally suspended on Oct. 6.

The commission was left with only one choice, per MMAFighting.com:

At a meeting of the Nevada Athletic Commission on Wednesday, the committee ruled that Danis, Zubaira Tukhugov, and Abubakar Nurmagomedov will all receive extensions on their current suspensions pending a disciplinary hearing.

A Brazilian Jiu-jitsu black belt under Marcelo Garcia, by way of New York, it didn’t take long for Danis to become one of the most infamous names in the sport. Denying reports of calling Nurmagomedov “a rat,” he became the initial target when the UFC lightweight champion left the cage following a submission win over McGregor.

McGregor brought Danis onboard ahead of the pay-per-view star’s rematch with Nate Diaz. The BJJ guru has since turned professional himself, competing under the Bellator MMA banner earlier this year. He also lost to Diaz’s teammate Jake Shields at Submission Underground 4, an all-grappling competition. There was a score to settle between the two following another ruckus involving McGregor’s team.

In 2016, UFC 202’s pre-fight press conference ended early after McGregor chunked a water bottle at Diaz and his crew. Shields, standing alongside Diaz, returned fire with a coffee cup to-go that nailed Danis.

The NSAC is expected to summon Danis and the two other men again this upcoming December or January for a full hearing.
