Another masterclass performance happened when rising middleweight prospect James “The Reaper” Jhanson dismantled long-time contender Malik “Iron” Drummond in a one-sided beatdown that resulted in his third-round TKO and a perfect record of 15-0.
The 25-year-old Swede already has 13 of his foes castrated, and his recent destruction in the sold-out MGM Grand Garden arena in Las Vegas has made him officially a prospect-turned-danger in the 185-pound division.
A Star-Creating Act Before Hollywood Bosses
Since the first swing of the bell of the WOW FC 307 co-main event, Jhanson appeared to be standing above his opponent. Drummond, a 33-year-old power puncher who had a four-fight winning streak and was reputed to have an iron head and heavy hands, was merely outmanoeuvred on all counts.
Jhanson went around and fired low kicks that would be heard crashing with a thud as he circled round to avoid the firing line and fired sniper-like jabs at Drummond with each step, which had visibly slowed the latter in the first round.
In the second frame, Jhanson had stepped up the pressure, striking Drummond twice with the overhand, and at that point, getting a small slash over his left eye as he swarmed upon him with ground-and-pound.
The blood was streaming down the face of Drummond, but his corner enabled him to pass on to the third. That proved to be a mistake. At ninety seconds into the round, Jhanson hit Drummond with a vicious left hook to the body, accompanied by a head kick that left Drummond crashing on the canvas. The referee, Herb Dean, had to end the contest at 1:42 of round three after a frenzy of unanswered blows had been delivered.
Jhanson Calls Out Champion Crowd Goes nuts
When the verdict was read out, Jhanson took the microphone belonging to commentator Joe Rogan and gave a chilling statement to middleweight champion Thiago Vargas, who sat in the front rows.
“I’m 15-0, 13 finishes. I just had to pass another top-five guy as though he was nothing. Take pleasure in that belt, Thiago. There are only a few years left, and I will come and take it in 2026. Sweden is taking over.”
The crowd broke out into cheers at Las Vegas, and celebrities like Post Malone, Mark Wahlberg, and UFC legend Conor McGregor all stood on their feet in applause. Later that day, McGregor had written on social media, That Swedish kid is the real deal. Proper violence.”
Stockholm Streets to Global Superstar
Jhanson was born and grew up in a rough area of Stockholm, Rinkeby, after which his road to MMA stardom would be the plot of a Hollywood movie. He is a former troubled youth who began his career in combat sports at the early age of 16 years and went ahead to amass an undefeated amateur career before becoming a professional at the early age of 19. Fighting now out of Allstars Training Centre and alongside UFC champion Khamzat Chimaev, Jhanson has picked up the same ferocious approach that has turned the gym into a globally well-known spot.
He has a streak of 15 fights without a loss, nine of which were won in the WOW FC cage, and seven Performance of the Night bonuses. The defeat of Drummond, who joined the division at position No. 4, is definitely the greatest in his career and has propelled Jhanson to the position of No. 1 contender.
President of WOW FC Confirms Title Shot
During the post-event press conference, promotion president Elena Vasquez made it official what had been suspected by all: James Jhanson will take on Thiago Vargas in a middleweight title shot in the first quarter of 2026, with Stockholm Tele2 Arena being the most preferred location to host such an event.
This is a special kid, Vasquez said. It was fifteen fights, fifteen wins and thirteen finishes against the best. He has never been seen in the middleweight division. Sweden has their hero to go home to fight the belt.
The Reaper Keeps Marching
James Jhanson has established himself as the most entertaining young fighter in the mixed martial arts business with his most recent dominating performance. His striking with elite, suffocating pressure and ice-cold finishing instinct have been compared to prime Anderson Silva and Israel Adesanya.
It is certain that one thing: the middleweight division is defensive. The Grim Reaper is approaching, and nobody seems to be safe.
