After doing the unthinkable, beating Joanna Jedrzejczyk—twice—Rose Namajunas (8-3) is set to defend her strawweight title for the second time at UFC 237. Jedrzejczyk represented Namajunas’ first defense. But before that, “Thug Rose” was a massive five-to-one underdog when the two first met up at UFC 217.
The event was a night of radical flux, crowning three new champions by the end of the card. When it came time for Namajunas to take her stab at usurping the Queen, she didn’t waste much time.
Less than two minutes into the opening frame, Namajunas floored the defending champion with a left hook and buried her under strikes until the referee had seen enough.
