Max Holloway: ‘I’m still a little bigger than Dustin’

Despite the crux of his career at the featherweight limit, Max Holloway has no real concerns moving back up to the lightweight ranks at UFC 236.

Against a former featherweight like Dustin Poirier, Holloway is sure he still carries physical advantages over this familiar foe.

“I feel great, it’s ’55. I’m still a little bigger than Dustin,” Holloway said via the Star-Adviser. “I wanna go out there and feel him. It’s been a while since I was a 55-pounder—at least a true 55-pounder.”

Holloway made his 145-pound debut upon entering the UFC for the first time back in 2012. Welcoming the future champ to the big leagues would be Poirier. At the time, Holloway was the youngest fighter under the UFC banner and still found success on the feet until he was planted on his back by his more experienced opponent and put away with a mounted triangle armbar.

The reigning featherweight ruler is currently an odds-on favorite to exact revenge this weekend in Atlanta, Georgia with the interim lightweight strap at stake.
