As reported by ESPN, the UFC’s most popular champion is again in legal trouble. This time he is facing battery charges that took place in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
In April, Jones reportedly touched a strip club waitress below the waist before kissing her on the neck. The accuser even stated the UFC fighter applied a chokehold on her. The charge is considered a misdemeanor but a stint in jail is still possible.
James Hallinan, who is handling Jones’ official statements, said his client was not even aware of the charges. Last month, Jones was issued a bench warrant when he did not make an appearance for a bong arraignment. His bond on Sunday was $300. His next court date is to be determined.
Hallinan, per ESPN, continued:
“Today, the media told Mr. Jones about a false accusation launched against him and that paperwork had been sent to an incorrect address. However, after receiving the documents from the press, Mr. Jones immediately went to pay the small fee, and he, and multiple witnesses, stand ready to factually refute the malicious lies being told about him to the public.”
