UFC 228 was headlined by Tyron Woodley who submitted Darren Till inside the distance with a d’arce choke. Yet, in only the kind of irony MMA can provide, the event will likely be remembered for delivering the two best submissions of the 2018 and neither of them being Woodley’s savage victory.
First, on the FX portion of the pay-per-view show, Aljamain Sterling battled Cody Stamann. Stamann gave Sterling all he could handle in Round 1 but in the second period, Sterling would secure back mount and inexplicably pulled off a kneebar from that dominant position:
